It all started 23 years ago in a small 1200 square foot building. They opened up with as many guitars and drum sets as they could afford to buy with their savings. Years later, they moved to their current location at 7540 North Market Street (many locals remember it as the Arcade Bowling Lanes). Now they have about 10,000 square feet of space loaded with all the best names in the musical instrument market. Long-time friends Luis Peraza and Eric Schwelling opened Atomic Music over ten years ago. Originally, Atomic Music was just a very tiny shop located on Route 1 in College Park, MD. Over the years, as more folks began to patronize the store, and the customer base grew, the need for more space became evident and the operation was relocated to a larger facility on Baltimore Ave. That store has since been re-located to its current location in Beltsville. A second store was open only briefly in Alexandria, VA, due to limited parking space and the trouble people had in locating it.
