Make N Music

January 28th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

It all started 23 years ago in a small 1200 square foot building. They opened up with as many guitars and drum sets as they could afford to buy with their savings. Years later, they moved to their current location at 7540 North Market Street (many locals remember it as the Arcade Bowling Lanes). Now they have about 10,000 square feet of space loaded with all the best names in the musical instrument market. At any given time, they have roughly 500 guitars and basses in stock (both electric and acoustic), lots of drum sets, a wide selection of instrument amplifiers, and a very diversified sound system department, as well as a huge selection of accessories.

They sell products to beginners as well as the professional traveling bands. One of their biggest and most expanding departments for the last 10 years has been their lesson program; they are very proud of their knowledgeable teaching staff, which is known as one of the best in the state. Make N Music also rents small sound systems to churches , schools, and weekend warriors who just need a sound system so they can play at their next show. Another market that keeps growing from year to year is their installation division. They have installed sound systems in local high school football stadiums and indoor gymnasiums, meeting rooms, government facilities, and court rooms.

Atomic Music

January 27th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

Long-time friends Luis Peraza and Eric Schwelling opened Atomic Music over ten years ago. Originally, Atomic Music was just a very tiny shop located on Route 1 in College Park, MD. Over the years, as more folks began to patronize the store, and the customer base grew, the need for more space became evident and the operation was relocated to a larger facility on Baltimore Ave. That store has since been re-located to its current location in Beltsville. A second store was open only briefly in Alexandria, VA, due to limited parking space and the trouble people had in locating it.

Then in October, 2005, Luis and Eric found a great location in Rockville and decided to give opening another store a shot!
They are offering this 2007 Fender USA American Deluxe Precision 4-string bass guitar at a great no-fuss price - and if you’re familiar with their store and their local customers, you know they won’t let it last long! This bass is in very clean condition — its electronics function perfectly and all parts are original! The frets don’t show any wear and there are no divots or deadspots. Action is low and play is incredible! Drop by Atomic Music and have a look/feel for yourself!

Carrolls’ Drum Service

January 24th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

George Philip Carroll is the founder of Carrolls’ Drum Service, a quality line of period-related percussion products and publications. He began his early interest in drums by enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy as a musician at the earliest possible age and was drafted to the RCN School of Music. Special assignments followed, including CBC radio and television productions, the Black Watch Royal Highlanders of Canada military band where he served as Drum Sergeant, and The U.S. Army Band where he researched and formed a fife & drum corps for the 3rd Infantry, which is well known today as “The Old Guard”. After his time in the Army Band, Carroll became the Musik Master and Drum Major at Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

He also worked at Walt Disney World as the Senior Show Coordinator where he founded the Walt Disney Fife and Drum Corps, amoung others. Currently, Major Carroll is the Director of Music for the Civil Air Patrol’s only recognized music program. Carroll decided to build a drum company where the drums that were manufactured would sustain the knowledge he had gained throughout his experiences in the Canadian and American Service Bands. While in the Canadian service, Carroll had been one of the last drummers to use rope tension drums and learned their special maintenance requirements. From this, he has created his signature drum crafting business of quality period-related drum reproductions which he has shared with his sons, Philip and Nathan.

Bluebond Guitars

January 21st, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

Bluebond Guitars has been a vital part of the Philadelphia music scene since the 80’s. They started as a repair shop and custom guitar builders. In 1989 the shop moved to the South Street area of Philadelphia. Since then, they have grown into one of Philadelphia’s best used and vintage stores. Bluebond caters to the working musician. They have everything you need to keep your guitar playing right. The shop has a great selection of used guitars, basses and amps. They specialize in boutique and used effect pedals. If you are tired of the same old pedals that every store carries, come check out some boutique pedals. Bluebond Guitars is the antithesis of the mega guitar shops that have taken over the industry. They are a small shop that takes the time to help you find your sound.

Bluebond Guitars has been Philadelphia’s premiere guitar repair shop for many years. They have been helping philly musicians since the mid 80’s. Their repair shop is known for it’s quality and craftsmanship. They offer all aspects of guitar repair, from the simple to the major restoration jobs. Word of mouth has been our best advertising for years, so if you don’t know them, just ask some Philadelphia musicians. They don’t ship repairs, we like to meet the musicians they do work for. Bluebond also offers full service amp repair. They have been working with the Musicians Electronic Service for 10 years. MES is the most trusted amp repair shop in the area. It is great to find an expert amp repairman that works on all types of amps.
