Hauer Music Company was founded in 1937 with the goal of providing the finest quality music experience to the people of Southwest Ohio. Michael Hauer, founder, started selling musical instruments from a small studio with a single showcase in the basement of a downtown Dayton building. Now, under the leadership of his son, Jerry, Hauer Music has grown to one of the largest music stores in the United States. Pride in the business Michael Hauer started, interest in architectural preservation, and determination to support downtown Dayton led the Hauer family to renovate an old historic canal building which the Hauer Music Company now occupies.
It is a gathering place for music lovers of all ages, history buffs, collectors, teachers and students. All items listed are available for purchase in their store. They hope that you will be inspired to visit us in person to explore the musical treasures we have collected over the past 70 years. They are not just one of America’s largest family owned retail music stores but a wealth of musical history and education. It is their desire to assist you in orchestrating your family’s musical needs. Hauer Music Drum Shop has over 4000 square feet of space packed with drums and percussion. They stock over 40 drumsets - 200 cymbals - hundreds of drum heads and sticks.
