Cadence Music

October 6th, 2009 Posted in 123 Triad

Cadence Music originated in the 70’s as a company selling uniforms and instruments to drum and bugle corps and marching bands. They purchased the company sometime during the 80’s and continued with the original business. In the course of doing this, they took on several percussion lines, mostly of the marching variety. In about 1991, a local store (on the West Side) closed and I saw the opportunity to get into the retail business. They decided on percussion because I know more about that than anything else and there really wasn’t a drum shop in the area. They chose Westmar Plaza for it’s proximity to expressways and abundant parking.

First and foremost, they sell drums and percussion accessories. They are a dealer for Mapex, Premier, Gretsch, Drum Workshop, Pacific, Sonor, Spaun, Fibes, GMS, and all of the usual entry-level brands. They provide most repair services (except bearing edges and covering) and expert tuning of all drums, and maintain a good stock of parts. They are knowledgeable about drum corps and marching percussion, having been associated with this aspect of the business for over 40 years. They carry an extensive line of concert percussion items such as mallets for timpani and mallet instruments from all major manufacturers. They have a reasonable degree of expertise in vintage and antique drums, and can help you identify and assign a value to any old instrument.
